ACSLS Timeout

2015-01-29 Thread Barkes, Jason
Hi, I have an ACSLS setup with a client and a library manager and get mount failures, but the tape actually mounts. If you look at the activity log for the volume below you can see this. It seems like it is not waiting long enough for an acknowledgement back to the Library manager. Is

Hi Jason, you could check for TSM Server option ACSTIMEOUTX. Maybe this will help you out. best regards, Rainer Von:Barkes, Jason jason.bar...@sse.com An: ADSM-L@VM.MARIST.EDU Datum: 29.01.2015 11:09 Betreff:[ADSM-L] ACSLS Timeout Gesendet von: ADSM: Dist Stor Manager

Hi Rainer, I had raised that to 15 on the Library manager. I think it multiplies by 60. My mount failures are all within a minute. Many Thanks, Jason. -Original Message- From: ADSM: Dist Stor Manager [mailto:ADSM-L@VM.MARIST.EDU] On Behalf Of Rainer Holzinger Sent:

New RFE: Rename collocgroup

2015-01-29 Thread Sergio O. Fuentes
Ahem... please vote for my RFE. I'd like a function to be able to rename collocation groups. Call me crazy, but I think it should be something like: rename collocgroup old name new name It's a pain to do that now and a simple rename will go a long way to organize our data. I guess it would

FWIW, I've also been through a lot of problems with dedup, it has been disappointing. On TSM servers not using dedup I haven't seen many problems at the latest levels. Curious to know what you just installed? On 7.1.1 on Windows, select * from processes works just fine... Wanda Prather TSM

TSM rant

2015-01-29 Thread Stef Coene
Hi, I don't get it. Back in the good oldays of TSM 5, you could have a normal server (basic CPU, 8 GB RAM, normal disks) and run TSM without any problem. The command line interface was nice, the web based GUI was basic, but you could do everything with it. You needed some extra scripts of

Yeah, I'm using TSM since ADSM v.2, now I've got two v5 and one v7. I'm thinking about migration/downgrade to old v5. Fast, reliable, easy to install/upgrade, light. Without ISC just a dream. brgds Wojtek -- Lufthansa Systems Senior System Engineer W dniu 29.01.2015 o 21:38, Stef Coene

I've been admin TSM since the V3 days if memory serves, and sometimes it doesn't so much anymore. I've had a lot less problems with TSM since the move to DB2. We are now at 7.1.1. I do not know DB2 and have not had a need to learn it. We back up about 400 servers, 350 VMs, 100 databases, and

TSM between v6.1 and the end of v6.2 was really rough, mostly related to DB2. By v6.3 it got a lot more stable. I'm glad we upgraded from v5 early, though, since we really benefit from DB2's improved indexing and table compression - between two TSM instances we have close to 2 billion file

Thanks Norman. To answer my own question, after a call with IBM, they've confirmed that moving to 6.3.5.000 is the best approach. It contains the needed SSL patches to the built-in GSKit, and the DB2 version remains at 9.7. I'll still be able to maintain compatibility with the older clients

Hi Jeanne, We are in a transition as the OC is getting more function with each release, but doesn't yet have everything the AC had. The OC is the new/current admin GUI. The 7.1.1 version has client scheduling in it now, so it can do more of the admin tasks you need. In the 7.1.1 version you
