The only indication that it's a VSS issue is the fact that the crash or
hang happens during or immediately after the System state backup
I had previously had some trouble with the journaling. May have been fixed in a
subsequent release. We just use the memoryeff with diskcachemem.

That first error about DRM can be easily resolved by opening that entry using

Can you share the details of the tape marker setting
I agree with Mark on this one, with the exception that I would do the drm
processing after backing up the primary to the copypool, and then backup the db
and then run a prepare. That way the copypool volumes show up as offsite and
won't be marked as destroyed in case of a disaster.

Last time I ran into this I had a log file filling up a directory and it ran
out
data to the client, but only a few mb/minute. When we run the
same procedure against other db's the run time is comparable to the
backup time. Has anyone ever seen anything like this?

it had many files in this pool that were not
there. We got the errors anytime we tried to access a missing file
(usually during a reclaim). The only way to correct it was to run
restore volumes for any lost files.

We have the same problem here and in general do the same thing Mario
suggested. In cases where the db has a supported tdp I sometimes back up
the db using the tdp as well just to be safe.

When you define or update your stgpool use the
COPYSTGpools--=copypoolname option. For the syntax just type help
update stgpool at the command line.
The documentation says it works with both random and sequential access
methods, but i have never been able to get it to work on random.

I am a bit perplexed. I have 64 volumes that are in one of my copypools
that are not in the drmedia table. I noticed the problem when looking
through last night's dr recovery plan. Server is 5.1.9 running on aix
5.1.

up having to restore to a point in time 1 day

We are attempting to convert a backup - Oracle TDP 5.1.5 on AIX 5.1
using RMAN 9.1 with Oracle 8.1.7.4 - to lanfree. The regular AIX client
