Is anyone else seeing a large increase in VSS problems (maybe since patch night) primarily on WIndows 2008 non R2 servers? The VSS errors are not fixed by our usual VSS fixer script or even rebooting. Running VSSADMIN list writers will show the system writer as always missing on these servers,

BMR with Spectrum Protect 8.1 on Windows 2016 ??

The only instructions I can find for BMR do not mention Server 2016 (see link below). Are there any updated instructions so I don't waste my time trying this old procedure? This says to make a Windows 8.1 boot disk?

Strange TSM for VE error

I am running TSM for VE 7.1.4.1 on WIndows 2008 and it has been OK until about 2 weeks ago. Since then every night the backup job (should be over 100 VM's) just kind of aborts without logging success or failure. The only errors in the logs are these (which don't appear in any Google searches)

TSM for VE 7.1.4.1 download "payload" file ???

I just download the TSM for VE 7.1.4.1 update from the open FTP site and when I run it (it is an exe) it just creates a DATA folder and puts a big file called "payload" in there. What do I do with that file? Tom

I am getting this error on three different TSM for VE VBS servers today. Waiting 60 minutes for each VM is causing the schedule to run into the next days schedule (the job runs for over 24 hours). I have to stop and restart the service to snap it out of this mode and hope the next backup runs OK.

I am seeing very poor WAN performance on all of my (wan based) TSM backups. Due to the latency (40 msec typical) I normally only get about 20% of the available bandwidth used by a TSM backup. With EMC Networker I get over 90% utilization. I have already set all of these recommended options:
