AIX APAR IV22062 describes a situation in which a hang or a crash might occur in DB2 versions earlier than DB2 10.1. At the time of this document's initial publication, all Tivoli Storage Manager servers are running a version of DB2 that is affected. The DB2 product provides a techdoc for all known operating system issues. This techdoc should be referenced by Tivoli Storage Manager users to determine if they might be exposed to problems based on the operating system level:
This AIX APAR addresses a problem causing private memory corruption on all DB2 versions prior to DB2 Version 10.1. Only systems running AIX 6.1 TL06 SP8, TL07 SP4, or AIX 7.1 TL01 SP4 are vulnerable, with corresponding bos.rte.libc levels of 6.1.6.18, 6.1.7.15 and 7.1.1.15. The common symptoms are a DB2 server hang or crash due to malloc heap corruption, with the trap file diagnostics frequently including malloc or initializeXalan functions. http://www-01.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg21606126&myns=swgtiv&mynp=OCSSGSG7&mync=E
