We are in the midst of 2-big projects - relocating our data center to a new building and evaluating Enterprise Data Protection solutions/proposals from multiple vendors.
These projects are related since when we move to our new building, there will not be space for our TS3500 tape library (used exclusively for ISP archives/backup overflow/offsite copies) nor any type of magnetic tapes. Also, if we move away from IBM/ISP, all archives will have to be extricated from ISP servers (legal requirements for some of these archives is 5-years). So if you have dealt or plan to deal with this kind of situation/scenario or know someone who has, how did you/they handle this? Did you make your users retrieve their archives and store them somewhere else (our first thought)? Did you maintain an unsupported/unlicensed ISP server for these long-term archives (I seem to recall a discussion here that we are allowed to "keep running" an unsupported ISP server after discontinuing maintenance/licensing)?
