Tsm client 6.3 on RHEL 5.6
Server 5.5.4 on suse sles 9
Below is the output from a q inclexcl
Then the entry from dsmerror.log.
I believe I have the exclude syntax correct to exclude all .log files under
/u01/oradata, however, it still tries to back them up.
What's up here?

Gary - Might this be a case where the backups are being run by a 'dsmc
schedule' (rather than CAD) and the exclusions were added to the inclexcl.list
file during the life of that scheduler process: if so, the process needs to be
restarted to reabsorb all its governing parameters.

To check if it was actually picked up, I queried the client options.
I also stopped and started the TSM Scheduler.

Don't rely upon visual inspection of files, as the information there is often
only part of the story.
Also check your backup log file to see what volumes it reports as
participating when it starts, and compare that against the query

Can you be more specific on what you mean?
Something like:
EXCLUDE \...\db1\...\*
Should exclude the db1 database for whatever instance you are backing
up.
If you want to specify a certain instance in an exclude statement, you
can do that too. I

a Linux box and ignore all the other directories.
To select the specific directory I created an include-exclude options file
and inserted an inclexcl option in dsm.sys.
The query inclexcl shows:

Yes, I tried to set up from client side as much as possible since server is
in the remote location, the only communication is through email. Sometimes
it is not easy to describe clearly what I wanted. But to make things
