So, attribute changes (0x0004) are now not notified...
Is this due to a virus checking application?
My memory isn't exact (it's old age creeping on, probably), but yes, I
think it was because of the virus check. Whatever the reason, it doesn't
seem to harm us.
But my main points
Hi Richard,
Your absolutely right about changing some values and check the effect.
Yesterday I only changed the NotifyBuffer to
NotifyBufferSize=0x0040
but this night it crashed again...

I sure wish it were as easy

You asked Geoff, but I'll reply :)
Did IBM say why the notifyfilter parameter was significant? I'm
curious what that controls.
If I remember correctly, IBM said that it controls exactly which events get
notified to the journal service. If your journal buffer is filling up, you
want to cut

From the tsmjbbd.ini file where the client is installed:
; NotifyFilter
;
; Specifies what types of filesystem activity to monitor for
; a journaled filesystem.

; Multiple

This is also documented in the client manual, in the appendix
that deals with configuring the journal service.
But only for v5.1+
It wasn't there for v4 (when we needed it ... moan, moan)

Hi *SM-ers!
TSM server 4.2.2.0, TSM client 4.2.2.0 on Windows NT SP4.
I have got a strange problem with one of my Windows NT clients.
The backup cycle runs for almost 24 hours. The thing is that the actual
backup runs fine:

You might want to consider journal backups! Depending on how many files
change on a daily basis

Hi Bruce!
Thank you for your
I know I have one 2000 server with over a million files. Before
journal backups it took about 1-2 hours to backup the server.
After it takes about 20min!
It's not just the number of files, it's also the number of directories.

We have one server with about 1.5 million files, but they're
spread over about 700,000 directories (I know, I know - I
didn't design it). There is extremely low update activity on
this server. It took 20 hours to backup before journalling,
and about 5 minutes after. Magic!
I sure wish it

I sure wish it were as easy, and great, as some make it sound.
I have a server with almost 5 million files on it. There aren't that
many changes that take place daily. I've installed journaling and it
still takes over 12 hours to run the backup. No magic here.
I didn't say it was
