We have had problems, since our upgrad efrom an i2000 to an i6000 in October
2010. The drives were IBM LTO-3 and now they are HP LTO-5. They disappear from
the OS. If we reboot the library once a week it seems to be fine. Quantum is
either unwilling or unable to provide an answer.

Hi,
Does anyone run LTO-5 libraries today?
How are your experience of LTO-5?
I have only installed one library and we got a lot of problem with does drives.
Just wonder if that is only one timer or if many other also have problems with
LTO-5
I don't care what TSM version you are running.

Hello Christian,

I have a customer that is running 6 LTO-5 drives in a 3310 using IBM
LTO5 media. They have had many issues with LTO5. In the past 6
months, they have replaced 4 drives mostly due to stuck tapes.
Several engineering firmwares have been added, and they are now
finally able to eject tapes more

I'm installing a Spectralogic T950 with 14 LTO5 drives next week.
I'll let you know if I have the same issues.

We've been running six LTO5 drives in an STK SL3000 with no issues for a
few months now. We've had way fewer issues than with our older STK
SL3000 that has eight LTO4 drives. You definitely want to make sure you
have enough bandwidth from the servers to the drives. You probably want

Skylar
are you using IBM or HP Drives in your SL3000?
Thanks

HP for both the LTO4 and LTO5 libraries. After talking to Sun/Oracle it
sounded like the IBM drives don't work so well, at least in the SL3000.
The engineer mentioned that there problems with the robot inserting
tapes too quickly for the loading mechanism.

We are using two Quantum (former ADIC) Scalar i6000 Libraries with 8 HP
drives each, since May 2010.
Before that I had 6 IBM LTO3 each in i2000. The libraries remained, just
were upgraded to i6000.
In the beginning we had some small troubles which were library, driver or
firmware specific, I
