missed the backup?
Thanks,

Do storage pool queries. It's only an issue if Migration isn't
happening, to drain that disk pool to the next

If the stgpool is set to cache migrated files (q stg diskpool f=d), it
will always look like that.
What does the Pct Migr (q stg) show?

Jim,
Pct Migr is 0.0

The background on this is that this server, AIX 5.3, TSM 5.2.6.1, has been
running smoothly forever. Max Scheduled sessions is set to 64, total number
of servers that back up to this guy is only 36. So needless to say I would

I have a general question here.
I have about 150 clients.

Geoff, as Sean suggested, a rename of the server is one possible (and
likely) means by which the passwords could have been messed up. Less
likely, but still conceivable, is that someone updated all the passwords
for the nodes.
When you set the password on the server to the known password, did you
characters and smiley faces instead of the server
name. I also can’t seem to get in via the web and query the activity log
from last night, it just seems to hang after send so much data. I could
still use the dos window to run queries while that was happening.

Ok here's an update on my own post. While waiting for a callback from
support I seem to have discovered what the problem is. It seems that the
passwords have not kept in synch between client and server. Yes
passwordaccess generate is set on all the nodes so I don't understand the
problem.

Geoff,
Was the server name changed by mistake on the TSM server side? We did this
once before when we migrated a TSM server to another server and we found
out the hard way that on the Windows side, not sure on AIX, the password is
stored in the registry based on the TSM server name and all our

Here is another problem I have noticed with all the servers I have tried to

the password but entering the proper password fails. If I remove the

Hi
Can someone please tell me , what is the best criteria to search for nightly
backups that failed/missed?
Currently i check event logs with the following and have it on a cron job..
q event * * begind=-1 begint=19:00 endd=today endt=08:00 |grep -E
"Missed|Failed"
This is fine for 'MOST
Try "q event * * begind=-1 begint=19:00 ex=yes" and see if that gives you
what you want.

In this case there is know way except to run the script many times
in given time frame. I set my script up in a way for the operator
on duty to track the missed or started nodes using q sess commands.
MISSED means a failure
STARTED means look at the server log to see when it ended.
