a bit confused. In order to get around this I extended the backup window 3 hours. This seems to have taken care of the missed backups. Weird though because it almost looks as if a session has somehow dropped, yet not dropped, and another one started, which eventually causes all 64 to be used

The background on this is that this server, AIX 5.3, TSM 5.2.6.1, has been running smoothly forever. Max Scheduled sessions is set to 64, total number of servers that back up to this guy is only 36. So needless to say I would never expect to see missed backups related to servers missing

I've noticed a dramatic increase in reliability/stability in letting the client acceptor daemon (CAD) control the scheduler. In many cases you don't have to restart services every time you make a options file change with this method either. The only time I notice missed backups nowadays is when

Ok here's an update on my own post. While waiting for a callback from support I seem to have discovered what the problem is. It seems that the passwords have not kept in synch between client and server. Yes passwordaccess generate is set on all the nodes so I don't understand the problem. I

In this case there is know way except to run the script many times in given time frame. I set my script up in a way for the operator on duty to track the missed or started nodes using q sess commands. MISSED means a failure STARTED means look at the server log to see when it ended. Mark
