If you mean IBM FAStT 500/600/700/900, you *do* have FlashCopy. Even FAStT
200 has it but is limited to WintelLinux/x86 platforms.
It is optionally licensed feature and requires upgrade to FAStT Storage
Manager v8. Discuss with your IBM salesrep.

Hi,
I just tested the 3.1.0.8 GUI on our HP-UX 10.20 servers using Hummingsbirds
Exceed 7.1 - no problems so far.
Anything I could check for you?

I just had a co-worker come to me to let me know the NAS HEAD was

Now what ?
I have absolutely no experience with this type of box.
I had been digging in the manuals and found lots of info refering to using

Hi Zoltan,
This may not be the most sophisticated way, but works perfectly on our
system, without having to play with ndmp, images backup etc ...
We defined a windows node (machine having good networking capability)
which will be the central file ditributor for NAS backups, granted

Well, the first question to ask, is what type of NAS is it?
IBM's NAS just uses a standard TSM client TCP/IP; some other brands use
NDMP.

Sorry, my ignorance. I thought a NAS was a NAS was a NAS, as far as the

The IBM NAS devices come with a pre-installed TSM client. They don't support
NDMP. So you can just proceed like having a normal TSM Windows client. For
NDMP file level restore just have a look on the just released redbook IBM
Tivoli Storage Manager Implementation Guide.

I think the 300G is just a stripped-down Windows file server; it comes with
a TSM client already installed on it. Doesn't support/need NDMP, so you can
do file-level restores.
There is a redbook on the IBM NAS 300G, including a chapter on backing it
up: SG24-6278.

Hi,
I have same problem and question as mentioned bellow.
This is written in client manual about return codes:
RC=4The operation completed successfully, but some files were not
processed. There were no other errors or warnings.
Have you tried using the resource kit utility called PSKILL? I use it all
the time on servers when the scheduler is stuck in a starting state
All you need is the process number.
Not a solution to the real problem but it save you a reboot!

It is true that wildcard characters are limited to file names only. From

In a command, you can use wildcard characters in the file name or file

Ted,
/u01/app/oracle/admin/*/arch/
It looks like you want to get any directory at that level, I use a \...\ to
do it in Windows.
Example:
Exclude *:\...\Profiles\...\ntuser.dat*
Not sure if this converts to your OS.

Andy,
Thanks for pointing out the file specification syntax section in the client
reference manual. I overlooked that when looking at the incremental syntax.
We may end up using a script to process the directories that we want to handle.
Thanks again,
Ted
ANS4987E - should be generating RC 4, not RC 12.
ANS1115W - should be generating RC 4, not RC 8.
ANS1448E - should be generating RC 4, not RC 12. You are correct about
this one, it is indeed broken in 5.1, and is fixed in 5.2. This problem is
described in APAR IC36305.
