If you mean IBM FAStT 500/600/700/900, you *do* have FlashCopy. Even FAStT 200 has it but is limited to WintelLinux/x86 platforms. It is optionally licensed feature and requires upgrade to FAStT Storage Manager v8. Discuss with your IBM salesrep. Zlatko Krastev IT Consultant Zoltan

NAS/NDMP backups

New adventure time. I just had a co-worker come to me to let me know the NAS HEAD was installed and configured and ready to be backed-up. Now what ? I have absolutely no experience with this type of box. I had been digging in the manuals and found lots of info refering to using the NDMP

Hi Zoltan, This may not be the most sophisticated way, but works perfectly on our system, without having to play with ndmp, images backup etc ... We defined a windows node (machine having good networking capability) which will be the central file ditributor for NAS backups, granted this machine

Well, the first question to ask, is what type of NAS is it? IBM's NAS just uses a standard TSM client TCP/IP; some other brands use NDMP. -Original Message- From: Zoltan Forray/AC/VCU [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Monday, August 25, 2003 10:21 AM To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject:

AW: NAS/NDMP backups

2003-08-25 Thread Speh, Holger
The IBM NAS devices come with a pre-installed TSM client. They don't support NDMP. So you can just proceed like having a normal TSM Windows client. For NDMP file level restore just have a look on the just released redbook IBM Tivoli Storage Manager Implementation Guide. Mit freundlichen Grüßen /

I think the 300G is just a stripped-down Windows file server; it comes with a TSM client already installed on it. Doesn't support/need NDMP, so you can do file-level restores. There is a redbook on the IBM NAS 300G, including a chapter on backing it up: SG24-6278. -Original Message-
