I've seen this several times before and let it go, after a while it finished
successfully.
I think I read this issue before in this list and the answers were that this is
a "normal" behavior for the TSM server doing an audit.
So there's still hope

than have to maintain scores of opt/cfg files (currently a dozen
machines with 3 instances per machine - and growing)...

EventCons is a file that is in use by MOM (Microsoft Operations Manager) and so
far I haven't found a way to include it in any backup.
I exclude it from any Windows backup, the MOM has a MS SQL database that can be
included in a good working backup.

Goran - This may be a locked, rather than open, file.
This may be one of those problematic files which need to be
excluded from general backups, to be backed up by some means
prescribed by the subsystem which is managing them.

I don't have enough info to say this for sure, but my first suspicion is
that your filesystem has gotten spread out across a lot of tapes. So it
mounts a tape, spins up to the right location, and gets blazing speed.
Then it needs to mount the next tape and spin up to the location of the

ntuser.dat file get backed up with TSM open file support. The OS has an
exclusive lock on it. I think it is odd that open file support can't back up
the file you listed.
