Andy,
This is still failing. Another strange thing is there is no dsmsched.log
file. I have to get the messages from the server actlog.
This is her dsm.opt:
COMMMethodTCPip
TCPPort 1500
TCPServeraddress TSMLINUX7.UCC.VCU.EDU
tcpclientaddres 192.168.21.132
NODename
Awhile back someone shared on this list their commands/scripts for
verifying that rman was not leaving any old backups on the TSM server.
I can't seem to find it now. Ring a bell with anyone?
David
Hi Zoltan,
I certainly would not expect a snapshotted backup to have issues with open
files (that is what TSM's Open File Support is supposed to address).
If you do not use the CAD to manage the scheduler, did you restart the
scheduler after making the dsm.opt file change?
Also:

Zoltan -
Does the process have write permission to the directory where the scheduler log
would
Also check to see if the scheduler service is pointing to a different
location for the schedule log.

What should we check? We checked permissions of the service as Richard
suggested, but it is set to local system - the default.
FWIW, this was working - last entry in the dsmerror.log is 07/11/2011 -
user says nothing has changed other than the private IP address it uses.

Simplest way I've found:
select ll_name, filespace_name, date(backup_date) from backups where
node_name='ORACLENODENAME'
Then get your Oracle person to pull a list of the Oracle pieces from the RMAN
catalog, you can match up the names and dates to the ll_names from this query.
