Mike,
We purchase all 3590 and in the future 3592 tapes at Imation.
They have the 3592 tapes in their portfolio. As a mather of fact, IBM sells
3590/3592 and probably other types to, as an OEM product, manufactured by
Imation.
We have no experience on 3592. We plan to implement in Q1/04.

Hi Willem
The strange feeling's is this would happen if SAPPROD(on sapprod) requires the same
tape as what SAPPROD (on sapqas)
requires, but if you make all the tapes from readwrite to reado and also if you stop
space reclaim and stop the offsite
copies until your refresh has completed you
I have installed an IBM 3584-L32 Library with 3 FC LTO2 drives. I assumed that
since the drives are FC-AL, I could attach them to a single FC HBA in my TSM Server,
but my reseller say I need a switch, and the IBM Redbook The IBM LTO Ultrium
Tape Libraries Guide (SG24-5946) states:

Hello,
this is broken on AIX too.
I'll open an PMH with IBM.

Hi Sam!
What you are referring to is called daisy chaining which can only be done
with SCSI. Fiber channel requires a point-to-point connection, so I'm afraid
your reseller is right... The other solution is to create 3 point-to-point
connections and thus you have to have 3 FC ports on your server.

Hi there,
we are evaluating the use of Sysback to do Bare Metal Restore of our AIX
boxes.
I have two questions for you:
1) will Sysback work with an S/390 TSM Server?
2) do I need to use NIM or may I start recovery operations
booting from a CD, for example?
Your help will be very appreciated
TIA
Niko,
what's the problem ?

Hi dear tsm'ers,
we just upgraded the firmware for our LTO1 drives in the 3584. Version in
now 36UC instead of 36U7. The bad bug (ask your CE about it please, if you
are using 36U7) should be fixed now!! (Library is still at firmware level
3480).
Happy new year to you all !
Hi *SM-ers!
Every now and than a few of my Win2K clients (5.1.6.0) end a successful
backup with the following error: ANS1301E Server detected system error.
No errors are to be found in the server activity log.
Has anybody seen this before or does anybody know what causes this error?
Thanks in
It is my experience that this occurs only when you attempt to download
via web browser that is other than IE! Strangely, IBM is only Microsoft
friendly. Try IE or an FTP client.

There's a nice redbook IBM Tivoli Storage Manager: Bare Machine Recovery
for AIX with SYSBACK. Go to http://www.rebooks.ibm.com and search on
sysback. Right now it's just a redpiece, but dated 10/30/03.

Very interesting question here... I have in the past done lots of research
on this issue for where I am currently working (although my assumptions are
based on LTO-1 which only has one uplex FC connector).
Your theory about connecting the three drives in a loop is technically sound
except is an

We have a 5.1.7.2 TSM server running under OS/390 2.9. We have seen
a rather peculiar problem several times in the last few weeks. The
problem was discovered when I checked on the status of TSM early in
the morning. In each case there were a number of clients with more
sessions than usual. Some of
Does anyone have an sql syntax/statement example on how to join two sql

I have two tables in that adsm schema which both contain info that the

Hi Justin,
If I understood you correctly, try something like this:
select a.schedule_name, a.node_name, b.contact from associations a, nodes b where
a.node_name = b.node_name order by b.contact,a.node_name
Good luck

From the command line, assuming you have AIX, did you run lsdev -Cc tape to
see if the devices were defined or available? And cfgmgr -v to configure
your tape devices, should they only be defined?
