Re: 8.1.6.0 woes

2018-10-30 Thread Colin Dawson
Hi Hans, Stefan, and everyone,

Spectrum Protect development has identified this issue. The 8.1.6.0
servers can fail to read from sequential media storage pools under some
circumstances. Please contact IBM support and an efix can be provided
which resolves this issue. The 8.1.6.0 code will be replaced on the FTP
site and FixCentral with a patched version, this is expected to be updated
before the end of the week. And the 8.1.6.0 version in PPA will be
updated in the next couple weeks as well.

Thanks,
Colin

Afraid not. The case has just been sent to the developers.

Exciting times!

Hi Stefan.

We are in a similar situation with 8.1.6.0. You should open a ticket with
IBM support.

Windows ARL change

2018-10-30 Thread Vandeventer, Harold [OITS]
Our "server security" folks are making several changes in Windows Access Rights
at the top of a folder structure which then cascades all the way down to all
files. This is being done on several nodes.

Is there a way to avoid Spectrum Protect from backing up all those files, most
of which haven't changed in content other than the ARL property?

We charge back to agencies based on the bytes in auditocc table. The ARL change
results in a double up of the cost.

The nodes are running various 7.x versions.

Thanks for any guidance you might have.

Re: TS4300 / EMC ML3 usage with TSM 7.1.7 ?

2018-10-30 Thread Erwann SIMON
Hi Luc,

According to this web page below, Dell EMC ML3 requires Spectrum Protect 8.1.2
(and IBM Device Driver, aka Atape.driver for the library itself). It's the same
requirement for IBM TS4300.
https://www-01.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=ibm10716993#LTO%20Tape%20Libraries

To be honest, I've configured once a TS4300 whith TSM 7.1.7 on Windows 2012R2
and it worked. The gap between the guy who sells and the other one who does the
job... I don't know with AIX, but it should be the same.

PS : Please say hello to David G. and Olivier S. for me.

Objet: [ADSM-L] TS4300 / EMC ML3 usage with TSM 7.1.7 ?

We looking into replacing our old IBM TS3310 FC LTO4 library with a DELL/EMC
ML3 (OEM of IBM TS4300) with FC LTO-7 drives.

We are at TSM 7.1.7 on AIX 7.1.

Do we need to upgrade TSM to at least v8.1.2 or are we ok with TSM 7.1.7 ?
