Allen, Thanks for the offer. We have our TSM servers and tapes located at a site different from the nodes that are being backed up. Someone clever here found this as a way to take care of off site backups without having to move things to off site. So, in essence all of our backups are offsite.

Have you checked for fragmentation on the NTFS drive to which you are restoring? It could be that it has a large chunk of free contiguous space on the drive that allows it to restore that portion quickly but then has only small fragments of free space available for the remainder of the 32gb. If

you can start the tsm backup archive client GUI from the nt machine. It will prompt you for a password. Once you enter the password it will be stored in the registry. Then you can restart your tsm services and it should pick up the password from the registry. goc
