Since then we added 50% more clients, and shrunk the log to 4.4 GB, but

I made that change to my system and restore performance is at least as
good, but copypool reclamation now runs as it should without the hours-long
waits pulling 20 MB of directories off the disk volumes.

The Unix clients include processing option ARCHSYMLinkasfile Yes/No. Our
Unix CAD server is the hub of our engineering infrastructure. It has links
to the various CAD workstations that themselves have links back to the CAD
server. Before the introduction of

My thought is that the batched data should partially mitigate that by
stretching out the intervals between the start and subsequent stop.

controller cannot handle a
large quantity of data flowing THROUGH it. By putting it on the end of the
SCSI chain it receives only commands. We have had flawless operation for
about a month now, after as many as five tape errors per day with the old

I would get IBM involved. We have 3575s and recently retired a 3570. Over
the years we've seen drive heads wear out, analog cards fail, picker
hardware wear out, etc. When those things occur, the symptoms are exactly
what you describe. Operations slowly get worse.

DevClass disk pool holding folders.
That combination results in acceptably fast restores of files or entire
folders on any size machine. In cases of very large restores we're
largely bound by the NIC - our TSM server connects via 100 Mbs and one LTO

in the Windows client manual that says
that option is valid for backups only, so it should work for archives too.
Is that really the case, or am I expecting TSM to do something that it
can't?

I assume the syntax in the command line is the same as in the OPT file
plus leading dash:
-PRESCHEDULECMD 'cmd.exe /c d:\Oracle\database\idevhotbackup.cmd '
