Jacques is correct, to test the backup you could use following:
(this is just an example from my environment, replace options/values for
your environment!)
dsmc backup vm -vmfulltype=vstor -vmbackuptype=fullvm
-asnodename=VE_DATACENTER1 -domain.vmfull="VMFOLDER=TSM_DM_01"
ce Pool backup???

things alone, in 24h or so it seems to go back to normal. Nothing I do to
the library (including rebooting it) seems to fix the problem immediately.

I wrote a small script to collect the snmp data from the Brocade fibre
switches and put the data into Servergraph.
Next I created a report to graph the data and in that way we could see
historical data throughput and identified more than once a faulty tape
drive!
You definitely want to monitor
help narrow down the number of
volumes to search. I can't seem to find any information in the i2000
User's Guide.
