Cleversafe onprem + deduplication with TSM

Hi Can I create a deduplication enabled storage pool using Cleversafe cloud using TSM 7.1.5. I can find that there are flags to enable / disable encryption for on-premises however there are no flags to enable for disable for dedduplication nor compression. Thanks

Hello Rainer, As far as I can tell, there is no problem with the server, so there is nothing to fix on the server. The issue I described in my prior email was on the client side. The problem was in older versions of the client, and fixed in the client levels I indicated. Best regards, Andy

Hello, OK, then it's strange that we never had a problem with older server levels. Thanks for your help, it's really appreciated. Bye Rainer On 29.04.2016 13:13, Andrew Raibeck wrote: > Hello Rainer, > > As far as I can tell, there is no problem with the server, so there is > nothing to fix on

Hi Rainer, I understand... when I first read of this issue, I too was suspicious. But once I reproduced it and noted the client fix, it made sense. All I can think of at this time is that maybe previous restores were no query restores, or QUIET was enabled (maybe in a client option set on the serv

Andy Thanks for looking into this. We've got an upgrade from 7.1.1 to 7.1.4 planned for next week so this thread got me a little worried as it does involve some legacy clients. Just so we're clear, can I reassure our users that with regards to this specific issue there will be no difference in

Hi Neil, What I can tell you is that my testing was done with a 7.1.4 server, and I reproduced the symptoms consistent with the old defect I mentioned in my prior email. When I applied the workaround for that issue (QUIET option), I could do the restore. The other ADSM-L poster, Michael Prix, veri

multipath tape support and device naming

If I have data path failover support enabled in the lin_tape driver, how do I define the path correctly to tsm? I need to make sure I catch the correct /dev/ entry so that lin_tape can manage the data paths. What do I use in the device field of the path definition for a drive?

This is pretty much what I do as well. A huge advantage in doing it this way, at the filespace level, is that it is MUCH faster than counting individual files. We have about 1 billion files divided between 3 TSM servers, compared to only several thousand filespaces. I call it CHURN rather than ABU

that is because the container (cloud or directory) manages deduplication. As the data is ingested, Spectrum Protect detemines if the data is to be deduplicated. Inside the storage pool, you will see two types of containers, a container that is deduplicated and a non-deduplicated. To answer you
