video ads thumbnail URLs are not supported in the AdWords API so I would
not be able to verify if the convention you are suggesting is indeed

`https://i1.ytimg.com/vi//default.jpg`. Does the image name
always remain `default.jpg` for each and every ad ?

The url for your video ad's thumbnail is currently not available via the
AdWords API. Also, my apologies if I cannot comment if this is possible via
the YouTube API since the said API is already out of scope for our team.
