Do you have any pictures of it installed? I'm curious how you mount
that in the rack or equipment box.

How do you distribute the 48/24v power? A row of fused links? circuit
breakers? That's always been the part that looks cobbled together. I
see Windstream rectifier racks with wire nuts, and wire just hanging out
in the open, and an autozone inverter sitting on a shelf, so apparently

There are PLENTY of competent software engineers that work at companies
other than the ones you listed. You just have to pay them appropriately.

I think a big problem with hiring competent developers is the competition
in hiring from the biggest companies like Google, Facebook, Twitter, Tesla,

I like the Alpha UPS units for AC.. reliable, configurable for a variety of
cell types, and relatively affordable.

We run v2 for our WISP and v1 still for our fiber.
Generally speaking the UI in v2 is harder to navigate and less user friendly by
far.
Functionally V2 in some ways trumps v1 in but not enough that we are migrating
our v1 over yet.
Their future is in v2 so I understand that they do not want
You already pointed out the major plus to A/C power: It's simple. Any joker
can come along and plug something in. Almost every device has a 110VAC
option.
UPS's are looking cheaper because you're getting used/refurb. You'll come
out more comparable with a new DC system compared to a new UPS
I don't trust UPSs for critical backup. I don't trust normal gel cells.
On the cheap, solar charge controllers make great rectifiers. They treat
the batts well and maximize your charge after a power outage. They are not
as costly as a carrier grade rectifier.
You can literally power them
We've been using the APC SmartUPS 750XL as a Tower UPS for several
years. Put 2-8 100+AH AGM Batteries on them, and they've been rock
solid for us. I can think of only a handful of failures in the dozens
deployed over the last several years. I used to source them off ebay
for $50-$70 each,
Sonar's implementation of the Avalara integration in v1 is junk and does not
produce appropriate taxation. Avalara has said it's imperative that Sonar fix
it. Sonar's response is to just move me to v2, to a feature they said wouldn't
be ready for 5 - 6 weeks. I figure add at least 6 months
Interesting with Powercode we have never been forced to switch to
anything... even so much as being allowed to stay on Version 9 for YEARS
after it was officially dead. They even supported it and went way out
of their way to do so.
Another reason I'm not a proponent of "billing in the
Hey Mike,
Absolutely do not switch to Sonar v2 until they force you to. It has a lot
of issues still and is a product that is in my opinion in a beta state
still.
It does not have complete parity with v1.

Are there specific features you want to implement in V2? We have gotten
no push to go to V2.

*single* person I know on v2 is dissatisfied with it.
