If you can get enough slack to put RJ45 ends on, I've had one of these
sitting in a customers gutter for 5 years.

An Empty SM case with a coupler in it will work in a pinch too.

A few times I'd used the box from a dead surge suppressor and just
stuffed a coupler inside it.
I wonder if McCown sells the plastic box separately.

We have done splices and couplers wrapped in tape and mastic. Many fail
after a certain amount of time so our new policy is a cut cable means a new
cable run to somewhere so there's no buried splices. All splices must be
above ground so there's never 24/7 moisture.
Be sure to bill the customer

I just put two ends on and use a coupler, bond the drain. wrap of tape,
wrap of mastic, wrap of tape, wrap of mastic, double wrap of tape. looks as
good as anything else and can be submerged

I would also wrap the coupler in tape by the way. I have no faith in

That type. Or a surge suppressor.
But honestly, 98% of the time I'd just as soon run a new cable.

My installers have been using telephone butt splices for years and they are
rearing their ugly head in terms of failing over time due to water and UV
damage, Even though they tape the connections okay.
My question is this, if it isn't easy to outright replace the cable and a
splice is
