Re: [AFMUG] battery powered wireless test unit

With the mAmp guage on our pack, it’s obvious if the path is ‘open’. We used
the pigtails off old canopy POEs so the Ethernet doesn’t enter the box.

We also have problems with the not powering anything issue. It was difficult
as we never saw with our own eyes, but we think it was combination of the
ethernet cable being loose enough in the ethernet jack (thus the eventual
taping the thing in, we’ll try the Gorilla glue you mentioned) and them
accidentally turning the POE off on the slider switch on the end. Since we
have gone over that basic troubleshooting with them we haven’t seen issues, but
that was fairly recently.

Crossover cable is 100% useless for Cambium. Unless you're referring to the
power polarity being reversed (those are two different things)?

Force180/200 will accept normal power just like Ubnt. This is what we use for
the most part. The only hassle is a wrong cable (denoted with electrical tape)
for Force 110 or integrated epmp.

Re: [AFMUG] battery powered wireless test unit

2017-05-12 Thread David Coudron
We have the same issue with the Ethernet ports. We piggybacked off the
Ethernet port with a cable that was more permanently held into the Ethernet
port with tape and it goes to an affixed external Ethernet port. We can still
use crossover cables for Cambium and straight through for Ubiquiti and Mimosa.

We use a small 5” inch box with a belt clip. Inside is a tiny 12V lead acid
battery because it is forgiving and easy to charge in the car. It has a 48volt
dc/dc converter with a switch that lets us choose between 12v and 48V so that
we can power either Ubiquiti or wimax CPEs. We have a volt/Amp guage so that
we can clearly see what voltage is selected and see the condition of the
battery. The amp guage is handy as it indicates if something is wrong with the
line or cpe/line we are testing. A thermal fuse protects everything against

5ghz and 3.65ghz SM's but with 2.4ghz SM's someimtes I get weird self

Linktests on 450 and FSK equipment can be squirrely.
