Magnum Energy (now owned by Dimensions) They make some kick ass units. Very solid, and made in the USA. You need to keep one of the "remotes" constantly attached to the unit so that it maintains it's programming. They do have a remote monitoring kit for it, but I've never used it. I just hook the site's IT Watchdogs unit to the battery bank and monitor it that way. Re: [AFMUG] Inverter / Charger UPS
Watch out for auto transfer switches. Many of them just have a relay, and are designed for a binary world – power is either on or off. We tend to have commercial power outages where the voltage is 60 or 80 volts, and I have run into transfer switches that think this OK, while the equipment being powered begs to differ. It is frustrating to have to drive out to a site that is down despite having 4 days of fully charged batteries onsite. Re: [AFMUG] Inverter / Charger UPS
How many watts, and is this indoor (controlled environment) or outdoor? We have several of the Alpha AC UPS systems and like them, you have to want most of the features though to justify the price. For larger sites with rackmount cabinets we have several FXM 650 or 1100, and we now have 2 smaller sites where we added a Micro 350 which is a self-contained outdoor UPS. There are a few minor complaints like password is limited to 4 digits and SNMP MIB is not well documented, but otherwise they have been rock solid, which I cannot say for some of the previous solutions we used. That said, most of our towers now are built as DC sites. I know a few guys using these. https://www.tripplite.com/750w-powerverter-aps-12vdc-120v-inverter-charger-auto-transfer-switching-2-outlets~APS750/ They swear by them. That's only DC thoughhe was looking at AC output such as with a UPS or Inverter/Charger. -- Original Message -- From: "can...@believewireless.net" <p...@believewireless.net> To: "af@afmug.com" <af@afmug.com> Sent: 7/22/2016 12:30:51 PM Subject: Re: [AFMUG] Inverter / Charger UPS Take a look at the Alpha Cordex PSU 2: http://www.alpha.com/index.php/products-mobile/cable-tv-broadband-products/item/2448vdc-cordex-psu-2 If you need more power, look into a full rectifier system. Re: [AFMUG] Inverter / Charger UPS
Take a look at the Alpha Cordex PSU 2: http://www.alpha.com/index.php/products-mobile/cable-tv-broadband-products/item/2448vdc-cordex-psu-2 If you need more power, look into a full rectifier system. Re: [AFMUG] Inverter / Charger UPS
I keep being tempted by AIMS power. What stops me is there's no provision for remote monitoring. The "remote port" is for a control panel at max 10m from the unit. If it had status relays that would be something. Even nicer would be a network module with Web/SNMP access like an APC. I suppose if you add something to monitor battery voltage and the AC power status then you could make do. -- Original Message -- From: "SmarterBroadband" <li...@smarterbroadband.com> To: af@afmug.com Sent: 7/22/2016 12:18:34 PM Subject: Re: [AFMUG] Inverter / Charger UPS For example http://www.theinverterstore.com/2000-watt-pure-sine-inverter-charger-48-volt.html Adam From: Af [mailto:af-boun...@afmug.com] On Behalf Of SmarterBroadband Sent: Friday, July 22, 2016 9:10 AM To:af@afmug.com Subject: [AFMUG] Inverter / Charger UPS We have been using 48v APC UPS’s in our cabinets, removing the internal batteries and adding 4 large Deeps Cycles batteries. [AFMUG] Inverter / Charger UPS
We have been using 48v APC UPS's in our cabinets, removing the internal batteries and adding 4 large Deeps Cycles batteries. Seems to be a waste of cabinet space to continue doing this. Has anyone used Inverter Charges to replace a UPS? I assume we should only look at Pure Sine Wave? Most of these seem to be at 12 volts. Like to hear what has worked for others. Thanks Adam
