Magnum Energy (now owned by Dimensions)

They make some kick ass units. Very solid, and made in the USA. You
need to keep one of the "remotes" constantly attached to the unit so
that it maintains it's programming.

They do have a remote monitoring kit for it, but I've never used it. I
just hook the site's IT Watchdogs unit to the battery bank and monitor
it that way.

Watch out for auto transfer switches. Many of them just have a relay, and are
designed for a binary world – power is either on or off. We tend to have
commercial power outages where the voltage is 60 or 80 volts, and I have run
into transfer switches that think this OK, while the equipment being powered
begs to differ. It is frustrating to have to drive out to a site that is down
despite having 4 days of fully charged batteries onsite.

But, it is only 12v, where AIMs does a 48 volt.

Maybe best bet is a separate charger and inverter?

Seems to be a waste of cabinet space to continue doing this.

Has anyone used Inverter Charges to replace a UPS?

I assume we should only look at Pure Sine Wave? Most of these seem to be at 12

How many watts, and is this indoor (controlled environment) or outdoor?

We have several of the Alpha AC UPS systems and like them, you have to want
most of the features though to justify the price. For larger sites with
rackmount cabinets we have several FXM 650 or 1100, and we now have 2 smaller
sites where we added a Micro 350 which is a self-contained outdoor UPS.

There are a few minor complaints like password is limited to 4 digits and SNMP
MIB is not well documented, but otherwise they have been rock solid, which I
cannot say for some of the previous solutions we used.

That said, most of our towers now are built as DC sites.

I keep being tempted by AIMS power.
What stops me is there's no provision for remote monitoring. The
"remote port" is for a control panel at max 10m from the unit.
