I'll be working with the kids again tonight. Hopefully we'll have

We are in the process of upgrading a few of our remain 900 customers
to the new 450. We have some of Chuck's old SS on some of these
customers. Will the 450 work with the older SS or do we nee to
upgrade those also?

Adam,
Coming late to this party, been out of the loop for the last week.
I'll get my notes together on Monday and post my poor boy's method
I've been using with our mikrotik PPPoE servers. Don't see a reason
why it wouldn't work with DHCP on anything else, being it is based on
traffic flow.
In
Paul,
I've build a few small machines based on this

Adam,
We just did this in a small area using about 9000' of 12 drop fiber.
Using two OLT ports and some creative splitting we are able to service
64 lots in that area. Only about 20 of them are currently built out
and 15 of those 20 signed up. I'm sure the other 5 will come in
within the next

Adam,
We just got 50 of these to try. Not sure if I would trust them in an unprotected area. We are going to start using them next week to see if they are worth it.

Adam,
Actually, you can go out further that 20km. I have customers out as far as 29km. There are two factors to take into consideration.
1. Optical budget. Very simple math just like the wireless world. Start with TX subtract splitter loss, distance loss, and

We use zhone. Can't complain. Have over 2000 ONT out there working
fine. Features are nice and support is great. Just fired up a new
bunker and used zhone in there. Going to buy another full setup next
month for another new area we are going in to.

Chuck,
We are pushing 30km with our GPON using C Lasers. Our zhone equipment allows use to slide that 20km window to fix the timing issues. That port is on a 20km-40km timing window instead of the standard 0km-20km.
