Hi Abdeljalil, Hadia has a good proposal, but I prefer to reformulate it in the following way: " ICANN multi-stakeholder model and the increase in national legislation and regulations". This is because as originally proposed by Hadia, it looks like we already have a position while the position should be the result of our discussion during the drafting of the statement and than during the session at ICANN 70. Re: [AfrICANN-discuss] Call for Topics: Joint AFRALO-AfrICANN meeting - ICANN69 (Virtual)
Dear Hakim and all, Thank you for proposing interesting topics. The aim of the AFRALO-AfrICANN meeting is to address hot topics in ICANN so that our region can make its voice heard about these topics and influence the decision about them. That’s why the topic we should choose has to be a topic under discussion at ICANN. My view is that this only works All-or-Nothing, because noncompliant commercial resolver operators have a commercial advantage over complaint ones. Financial incentives may work as may financial or other sanctions. One could even make it part of the Accreditation that DNSSEC must be offered by the Registrars. But while the Registrars are usually the entities operating the DNS and as such have control over the end-user's DNS anyway, the chain of trust should go up to the end user and not just the Registrar. Talking to the banks has so far not been very effective, they are happy with HTTPS even though they forget to renew their certificate on a regular basis, never mind the expense. I don't have the answer either. Getting the bulk or at least the important Domains DNSSEC Signed will be a bit more challenging but is quite possible; e.g. any domain for a website which may involve a financial transaction or deal with personal information. On my Domain Registration and Hosting Platform, if I am running the Registrants DNS (Zone file), DNSSEC is simply an option the Registrant can switch on. I could change that and simply enable it for everyone. However, if the Domain is then moved to a Registrar that does not support DNSSEC - there would be issues for the new Registrar. Re: [AfrICANN-discuss] [AFRI-Discuss] Call for topics: Joint AFRALO-AfrICANN Statement for ICANN63
Dear all, The call for topics expired yesterday and we received proposals from Abdulkarim, Wisedom, Barrack, Bamba, Hadia, Abiola and Liz. Thank you for participating in the topic selection process. The topics received are new gTLD subsequent procedure, Open data, EPDP and IDN / Universal acceptance. Seun commented on the proposal for EDPD saying the EPDP work is very fast moving and there is a high chance that whatever we have as a draft may become obsolete by AFRALO/AFRICANN meeting. I agree with him. The new gTLD subsequent procedure is one of the most hot subject today at ICANN. It was proposed by several persons. But it contains several topics such as open round or consecutive rounds, application fees, applicant support, community applications, etc. If we decide to address them all together, our statement will be superficial. We need to be focused and give clear and precise opinion to have the required impact. I think we should choose among: Open round or consecutive rounds Application fees, Applicant support, Community applications I propose « Community Applications » since in the 2012 round, the community application was a big failure, and I think we need to give our opinion on how to make it successful. Please give your proposals as soon as possible, and not later than Monday 17 September. To respect the timeline, I also propose that we start forming the drafting team so that on 17 September, we will have the final topic identified and the drafting team formed. I’m volunteering to be on the drafting team. - Tijani BEN JEMAA Executive Director Mediterranean Federation of Internet Associations (FMAI) Phone: +216 98 330 114 +216 52 385 114 - > Le 11 sept. 2018 à 04:38, Sarah Kiden a écrit : > > Dear colleagues, > > I also wanted to mention that Hadia El Miniawi had already sent comments on a > separate thread. Re: [AfrICANN-discuss] [AFRALO-Internal] AfRALO-AfrICANN Meeting and Statement for ICANN61 "Panama"
Good morning, I support Beran’s proposal of GDPR for our upcoming AFRALO-AfrICANN joint meeting in Panama. We already addressed this very topic in Abu Dhabi, but because of its importance, and the new elements (response of ARTICLE 29 WP to ICANN request for advice, the accreditation model and the comments of IPC , etc., I do think that we need to discuss it again and give our opinion regarding the final interim model model a few weeks after the GDPR enters into effect (25 May). So, yes, compliance of the Whois registrant data with GDPR would be a good topic for our joint meeting. - Tijani BEN JEMAA Executive Director Mediterranean Federation of Internet Associations (FMAI) Phone: +216 98 330 114 +216 52 385 114 - > Le 18 avr. 2018 à 10:40, Beran Dondeh via Afralo-Internal > <afralo-inter...@atlarge-lists.icann.org> a écrit : > > Dear Mohamed > > I would like to suggest GDPR in the African context. Re: [AfrICANN-discuss] Happy New Year / Bonne année
Thank you very much Sunday for your kind wishes. I hope that 2016 will bring you more success, excellent health and plenty of happiness. I want to thank you especially because you made the effort to translate your wishes into French and Arabic. While for the French, the translation was very close and understandable, the Arabic was absolutely right but with important mistakes in the signature such as: "Sunday" was translated to be the day of Sunday and not the name of a person "Chair" was translated as the chair on which we seat and not the chair of the board But this is normal since the machine doesn’t recognize the different meanings of a single word, and your wishes in French and Arabic were closer the the heart of those who do not speak English. Thank you again. ------------- Tijani BEN JEMAA Executive Director Mediterranean Federation of Internet Associations (FMAI) Phone: +216 98 330 114 +216 52 385 114 - > Le 1 janv. 2016 à 03:40, Sunday Folayan <sunday.fola...@afrinic.net> a écrit : > > > Bonne année à vous tous.
