The system sounds can easily be disabled for the duration of the recording and
then enabled again from Sounds in Windows Control Panel.

Yes, and the problem is that when you use stereo mix, then on some
carts it don't alouw for external like a mike to be recorded at the
same time as internal sounds, even if its suppose to work like that,
and some others does alouw for that. So you never no what you get
since we moved from xp where

I’ve never seen a Windows PC without the Stereo Mix or What you hear option so
I’m actually wondering whether this option is more a Windows option rather than
a Sound Card Specific one?
