Speaking of Bluetooth speakers, might I be able to find a Bose model for
under $50?

Bluetooth speakers should be a real blast.
The Kef uses 2 separate units if you want stereo sound.

Try Jam Plus or Jam Box; at least the Jam Plus talks when you power it on, it
tells you the battery status, when it's paired and pairing to the iPhone among
