This bug as already been described as soon as for OOo 1.0.0 , three years ago :
issue 5919
but astonishingly is still there.
At least Eq fields should be converted in OOo formulae,
but this would be the poor man's solution.
The reason I use Eq fields is their characters accept text attributes (including
styles) the same way text does (and together with neighbouring text) :
one doesn't need to open one by one each and every formula to modify font, size
etc..
So a true solution would be to provide such features for OOo formulae, and to
convert Eq fields into such formulae, with an "inherited style and attribute
switch" on.
