Cliff, are those old flowers where the persistent calyx has faded to that
color? Or it that the color of fresh blooms?

Good morning Jim,
That is the colour of the fresh blooms and the location was literally awash
with many hundreds of these incredible plants. They were growing alongside G.
lutea and there were (what appeared to be) hybrids everywhere.
