If you have time while you are in Nottingham for the conference you might like
to take in a visit to Sherwood Forest (supposedly 'home' of Robin Hood) and see
the Major Oak, probably the most famous tree in Britain. It is not far from the
city and there are trips there by public transport if
The aquilegia in Cliff's picture from Lago de Ercina in the Picos is A.
vulgaris, not A. pyrenaica. A. pyrenaica has straight spurs and and stamens
that stick out slightly beyond
the end of the floral tube (exserted). A very nice photo from a lovely
location that I visited once some years
each growing season
they grow less well, have yellower foliage, and generally 'go back'.
