I previously reported a problem on Thu, 27 Nov 2003,
with loading the snd-interwave module from alsa-driver-1.0.0pre3
into linux-2.2.25, and a "fix" for this on Fri, 12 Dec 2003.
I have looked harder at this now and think that the fix should be

It looks like the compile problems mentioned in earlier messages are
mostly due to the fact that I hadn't installed any of the driver/lib
stuff. This could impact the includes needed by both alsa-oss, and
alsa-utils. Something changed between 0.9.6 (what I had installed) and

Well, there was a new version, and while attempting to compile it,
there were problems with alsa-oss: (sorry about possible line wraps)

I think i've found something interesting.
I downloaded de nvaudio driver from Nvidia's site and read the source a bit.
I found this function:
void __start_dac(struct Nvaudio_state *state)
{
int i =0;
unsigned int i_glob_cnt = 0;
struct Nvaudio_card *card = state->card;

Perfect. It's working with Linux 2.6.1-rc3 and
I just tried alsa 1.0.1 release and it still has the same error.

No, sorry. This is beyond of my hands. I will send update patches to
Andrew Morton and Linus ASAP, but the inclusion is in their hands.

Does this mean alsa 1.0.1 will be added to kernel 2.6.1 ?

Hello all,
this is our first final ALSA release with number 1.0.1. As you all
expected, there are only minor fixes against 1.0.0rc2.
The 1.0 code is a direct successor of the 0.9 code which firstly
introduced the completely reworked APIs since 0.5 version. Our focus is
to offer a

JACK works perfectly.
I can get sound from aplay if I use this commandline:
aplay -f cd -D plughw audio.wav
Playing WAVE
It could have to do with how the particular output plugin is written, or
the (in my opinion) somewhat retarded plugin model of xmms with sleeps
between writes to output.

I'd rather think xmms does something that causes skips. I've seen it
with a cmi8738. It's one of the reasons I stopped using xmms. It's

Does esound do something special to keep sound stable?
It happens with snd-via82xx + OSS emulation.

And there is also a different S/PDIF in on the card as far as I remeber.
So "IEC958 LiveDrive" would be nice. But I'm sure that
