The included cvscompile script does this job for you.
Note: Some automake packages have missing aclocal program. Use newer version
in the case.

I used that, too. And at all times I get MIDI output working fine but no input. The
funny thing is that it _did_ work and then it stopped working just like that...

MIDI -out but can't get MIDI-in. I havn't really tested
with alsa compatible software (aseqview only) I need access to ramidi devices (well,
for now).
Any ideas about such behaviour?
I'm on DebianPPC, 2.4.18, today's alsa's CVS.
