I use a CMI8738 card mainly through OSS emulation. /dev/dsp is mapped to
subdevice 2 (digital IO). If I open it with a really strange combination
of channel count and rate (ch=48000, r=2) snd-pcm-oss oopses.

Recently I switched to 2.5.5. Compilation with egcs-2.91.66 went fine.
However unloading the alsa module stack oopsed. It happened both with
snd-cmipci and snd-trident but not with snd-dummy. By manual rmmod'ing I
