I've been using my patch release on my SoundBlaster Live! with ALSA
0.9.0beta8 and on my Gravis UltraSound PnP with ALSA 0.5.10.

I also am running a SMP system. I also have lockups quite frequently but
have not yet found the cause. If you'd like me to run any tests on my
own system to help, let me know. My stats are: kernel 2.4.12-3mdk SMP,
alsa 0.9.0beta9. If CONFIG_DEBUG_SPINLOCK is disabled by default, mine

v -s .5 shows the irq changed in the hex.
Anyways, if you have any luck getting your's to work, I'd be very
interested in the details.

I've been hacking on esound to 'scratch and itch' as they say. That itch
being alsa support. It'll compile with alsa 0.9 natively. Because I use
this as my sound server I also made sure it has any improvements I can
find, such as the patches from the Mandrake, RedHat, and Debian
distributions,
I had a problem running configure against the Linux Mandrake 8.2 UP
kernel. It would fail when trying to determine the kernel version. This
patch for rc1 adds the needed includes so that linux/rhconfig.h can be
found when configure checks for the kernel version.
