i have noticed that alas doesn't support HDVD-800 USB DAC, i can not hear
anything.
note that this device requires it's own driver under windows/mac.

I tested the patch you sent me and it works perfectly.
I am now able to change the volume of capture!
I add a little more information:
Alsamixer in the playback section shows three volume controls:
- Master: Controls the playback volume of the 4 outputs at the same time.
- Line0: I
The issue is resolved! It is a problem with the Raspberry Pi's USB-Bus
and can be fixed by adding dwc_otg.fiq_fsm_enable=0 to the
/boot/cmdline.txt.
