I have similar problems with the CM6631, the Tenor 8802 and the Audio
Widget.
In both examples of the CM6631 I have the same bad sounds happen with sample
rate changes that go away with a pause-play cycle. The Tenor is more
problematic and really only functions at 44.1. At other sample

identifiable info.

very helpful to go through the log file the script generates to look

I'm not familiar
conversion. When I use hw with the Juli@ it doesn't work right. Since plughw
works the way I want I see no need to explore further.

I have been there with those problem on the Juli@ card, which uses the same
chipset. First, use plughw: instead of hw:. (I never understood the
explanation but it seems to be the proper fix). Confirm that it works with
aplay before trying it with a sound program. Aplay doen't need a conf file

A high-end audio company has asked me to get their newly released USB
DAC working in Linux at 24-bit. 16-bit playback is said to be
working. I'm hoping I only need to use a 24-bit music player like
mpd, but if that doesn't work, where should I look next? Can a DAC
work in Linux at 16-bit but

change in source rate. On a PC you
don't want Vista (yet. . . ) and you need to use ASIO and a lot of fiddling.
Which is why I'm using Linux.

I’m trying to configure Alsa to send high definition audio files, 2 channel,
176.4 KHz/24 bit depth to the digital output of the card. I know the
hardware can do it correctly, I have confirmed that in Windows and confirmed
the stream with the external DAC.
In Alsa no matter what I try the
I have been trying to get this to play HD audio files at 24 bit depth and it

asound.conf or tweak the driver to resolve this? (It’s a similar but not
