Okay, well I installed ALSA today... works good, I get sound at least! However, there seems to be a 'small' problem... amixer and alsamixer do not seem to be working! I can mute stuff and unmute things, and still get sound... and yes, I am sure that it's using ALSA, because if I run alsasound stop, I no longer get any.
Looking at the ALSA output driver configuration page in xmms, it seems to show two audio devices: "EMU10K1" and "EMU10K1 FX8010"... now, if I switch output to "EMU10K1 FX8010," I get NO sound, but no errors... but moving the volume bar in XMMS moves thebar in alsamixergui too!
