I'm not sure if it's for the same reason, but I had the same problem with my ens1370 (Ensoniq Audio PCI). I solved it by turning on the microphone +5V bias. There are 2 ways to do this - 1. Use the gamix mixer program - link on the Alsa applications page - which has a button to turn it on. 2. E
