This is a bug in ALSA.
Revision 1.4 of alsa-driver/acore/pcm_sgbuf.c added the following code:
...
#if LINUX_VERSION_CODE >= KERNEL_VERSION(2, 4, 0)
page = vmalloc_t

Have you tried passing the 'snd_extin' and 'snd_extout' options when you load
the snd-emu10k1 module?
In your '/etc/modules.conf' add a line like so:
options snd-emu10k1 snd_extin="0x3fc3" snd_extout="0x1fc3"
These options are detailed at the bottom of this page ( note email wrapping ):

To recap, on my live drive I have spdif in, spidif out, headphone out,
mic/line in, MIDI in, MIDI out. So yours shou

Whatever. That dopesn't make a whole lot of sense. Did you send this output
_while_ you were actually getting sound out of your headphones.
That is correct. I am listening to music through the headphones tha

I just installed a M-Audio Delta 410 on Mandrake 8.2. Alsa 0.9rc6
doesn't support this card som I downlaoded the latest cvs version
(http). This compiles and installs but when I try to modprobe the module
I get:
/lib/modules/2.4.18-6mdk/kernel/sound/acore/snd-pcm.o: unresolved symbol
vmalloc_t
"alsactl restore 0" gives error and does not restore mixer settings which
have to be changed manually when rebooting. This is painful but doable
since the sound works fine other than for this glitch.
The error is:
boris:~/# alsactl restore 0
alsactl: set_control:960: Cannot write control '3:0:0:

The via82xx doesn't have a hardware synthesizer. It may have an MIDI port
for external devices (must be enabled in the BIOS setup, and see the
mpu_port module
How can I enable S/PDIF for snd-via82xx? It is posible use AC3 pass-through
with this card?
Thanks

Hi,
on my Intel D845 Mainboard master and headphone output seem
to be mixed up. Output volume can be controlled only by setting
the headphone volume... How can I modify the alsa-driver (intel8x0)
to exchange these? Would'nt it be possible to include an option for
this behavior?
Version is 0.9.0rc6
