working with alsa. Has anyone done it?
I started from Mandriva 2008 - alsa was ok except for PCM mute - mute master

Hi,
Suppose, an ALSA playback device is opened in blocking mode, and one
thread calls snd_pcm_writei. If the snd_pcm_writei call blocks, because
the internal buffer of the ALSA device is full, is there a way by which
another thread can interrupt the call, so it returns immediately without
writing

Exclude 'mplayer' first, use the official 'aplay' to check ALSA.

Sergei:

not with 'mplayer' plays video fine when the '-nosound' option is used.

I've just installed the latest drivers, 1.0.18rc3. Attached are a

This means that the em28xx_alsa module that you're trying to load and
the currently loaded snd_pcm module have been compiled for different
kernels.
It is possible that the old ALSA modules are still loaded;

Hi. I'm trying to figure, why I can' record any sound with my M673 laptop.

the headphones port.
Here is what I can provide:
1) Output from utils_alsa-info.sh
Also, I thought I would mention that just recently I loaded the pkspkr
module. I thought maybe it would do something. I read about it being
taken out, so I gave it a shot. I'm not sure if it's loaded naturally by
default.
