Alsa people, I pinged the list a while back while I was attempting to get ALSA working on my RedHat 7.3 box and I eventually gave up. In an effort to be somewhat helpful I have listed the general chronology below, sorry if the detail is missing (not to mention my dodgy memory) but the theme

Well I managed to compile and load alsa 0.9.0rc5 on RedHat 7.3 (with current updates, redhat kernel 2.4.18-17.7.x) without a hitch. That's great news, compared with the grief I had a month or two ago. Now the bad news - no output. I can run the utils, play with levels and unmute stuff with

I finally have alsa working on my RedHat 7.3 box. Thanks for your help. Kernel 2.4.18-18.7.x and alsa rc6. Straight forward, no hitches, well done to the alsa team. I have compiled the oss emulation but I'm not sure how to get things like kmix and play to work. They complain about /dev/dsp

[Alsa-user] alsa and xmms

I have alsa compiled and running on my RH 8.0 box. I can use aplay, play just fine but no sound comes out of xmms. I believe I have the oss emulation running. Any tips? --- This sf.net email is sponsored by:ThinkGeek Welcome to geek heaven.
