-2 means no such file or directory.

I'd guess that it did not find the firmware files. Either enable
CONFIG_SND_MAESTRO3_FIRMWARE_IN_KERNEL when compiling the kernel, or
install the alsa-firmware package.

[Alsa-user] Alsa error with 2.6.24 kernel

2008-05-12 Thread Mr. Man
Hi Everyone,

I'd need some help about Alsa 1.0.16 and 2.6.24-1-686 kernel.

Dmesg says:
Maestro3: probe of :02:03.0 failed with error -2

The following is evident, as the snd-maestro3 driver couldn't be loaded:

[EMAIL PROTECTED]:/proc/asound# cat cards
--- no soundcards ---

[EMAIL PROTECTED]:/proc/asound# /etc/init.d/alsa-utils restart
Shutting down ALSA...warning: 'alsactl store' failed with error message
'alsactl: save_state:1497: No soundcards found...'...failed.
Setting up ALSA...warning: 'alsactl restore' failed with error message
'alsactl: load_state:1573: No soundcards found...'...done.

/etc/modprobe.d/sound looks like this:
[EMAIL PROTECTED]:/proc/asound# cat /etc/modprobe.d/sound
alias snd-card-0 snd-maestro3
options snd-maestro3 index=0

The fun part is that with 2.6.22-1-686 I have no problem, the soundcard works
fine.

Do you have any recommendation, help?

thanks in advance,
nm
