Sent from my BlackBerry device on the Rogers Wireless Network -Original Message- From: "Rob Greatrix" Date: Thu, 21 Jun 2012 22:39:17 To: Subject: Niagara falls men's league tournament Niagara Falls Canada Hi Al Any teams interested in a late summer tournament please consider Niagara Falls Men's league annual tournament. The date this year is Aug 24-26 2012 at Ker Park in beautiful Niagara falls. The Falls has plenty to offer in the summer and we will do our best to ensure you enjoy your stay in our City. Traditionally the tournament is held the weekend after the civic holiday in August but this year that weekend conflicts with the Worlds in Midland so we moves it to the 24th. Most likely we will have the same format as prior years, A,B,C and D divisions based on your three preliminary games record. This pretty much guarantees teams 4 games for the weekend. Cost is $400 and the tournament will have a beer tent, barbeque , concessions and souvenirs. Prize money will total $2,500. Taxco from Niagara falls are the defending champs. Please consider Niagara Falls and let me know if you'd like to reserve a spot. I can be reached at r...@integrityhealth.tv Cell - 905-324-6341 Thanks Rob Robert R. Niagara Falls Men's League tournament
Received: 8/14/06 1:31:05 PM From: "Greatrix, Rob" Subject: Niagara Falls Men's League tournament -------- Niagara Falls Men's League tournament Niagara Falls Canada The annual Niagara Falls Mens league tournament wrapped up Sunday afternoon. The tournament was divided into two divisions, the Rusty Dekker (RD) and Janet Greatrix (JG) divisions. Congratulations to the NOTL Snappers who won the RD division and Cool Hand Lukes who won the JG division. I do not have all the details with me but in summary, the Snappers defeated the Red Hot Chili Pepper and the Udney Storm defeated Elkland Fastpitch in the RD semis. The Snappers then defeated Udney 4-2 in the finals. Byron Demoe picked up the win with 13 Ks.. Jamie Thompson took the loss. Peter Dobbin hit a homerun for the Snappers.. Cool Hand Lukes defeated the Toronto Royals and the Statfordville Express defeated Beam Me up Scotties in the JG semis. Lukes went on to beat the Express in the JG finals. Ron Winger took the win and James Atkinson hit a grand slam in the game. Lake Simcoe Lightning won the RD consolation and Storms Fury won the JG consolation. All four Niagara Falls teams fared well this weekend. As mentioned above, Chili Pepper scored an upset or two on their way to the RD semis, Lukes won the JG division, Storms Fury won the JG Consolation and Beam Me Up Scotties were 3-0 before losing in the JG semis. The good - the tournament field again was maxed out at 18 teams, even though Ker Park is under-staffed the City guys did a great job keeping the fields in good shape, the weather could not have been better and there were spectacular plays and great games all weekend. We are blessed with a great group of volunteers ready to take on any role we ask of them. The bad -I cannot understand why some teams not only do not visit the beer tent, but bring their own beer and drink it in the parking lot. We had at least two teams back their vans up to the outfield fence, bring out lawn chairs and pop open a cooler, a mere 10 15 ft away from the beer tent. The proceeds from the tournament go directly to the league which in turn allows us to play the game we all love. You cant cough up few bucks for a beer so you pay all those volunteers the ultimate disrespect of drinking your own right in front of them? Needless to say I had to make frequent trips out to the parking lot to tell these teams the obvious, the Niagara Police department are not fond of drinking beer in a parking lot on a Sunday afternoon, our liquor license could get revoked etc. To these teams, other teams in the beer tent laugh at you as they all run their own tournaments. You are cheap and come across as bush league. Ultimately it is up to the tournament executive but my recommendation will be to not allow these teams back into the tournament. Of course many people help make the weekend a great one. I will start the thank yous with the tournament committee, Dave Rotella Cool Hand Lukes, Herb Beckman Storms Fury, Rick Lessard Beam Me Up Scotties, Craig Smith Red Hot Chili Pepper and Al Greatrix tournament chair. I would also like to extend a huge thank you to the countless volunteers. Official scorekeepers (Bill and Shirly Weaver, Dave and Linda Rotella, Debbie Bedard, Ross Bateman, James Atkinson and C Guillion, sorry if I missed someone) , all the beer garden volunteers, Storms Deli for the barbeque and Front Row Sports for the equipment booth. A special thanks to Mark Korten for keeping the score sheet and scoreboard up to date and running around helping with whatever he could throughout the weekend. Janet and Rusty are two longtime friends of the NFMFL. We played this weekend with heavy hearts and in memory of them both. I would like to thank the participating teams with playing in a manner that would make both Rusty and Janet proud. All the games were played aggressively but in good spirit and sportsmanship. Janet would often say the mission of the tournament was to meet new friends, develop relationships with other fastball communities while allowing our visitors to enjoy our fabulous town. To all the teams thank you for giving us the opportunity to do so. One last huge thank you to Al Greatrix, tournament chair. Al essentially lives at Ker park during this event and he did so this year with his past years partner here in spirit only. It was a large task made only more daunting this year. This was one of Janets favorite time of the year, when she could visit and talk with all her fastball buddies. We owe the success of this tournament in large part to Al and Janet. Niagara Falls Men's League tournament
Received: 6/28/06 3:15:20 PM From: "Greatrix, Rob" Subject: Niagara Falls Men's League tournament -------- Niagara Falls Men's League tournament Niagara Falls Canada Hi Al The roster of teams for the annual Niagara Falls Men's league tournament is near complete. We currently have 15 teams confirmed and are looking for up to three more. For all intermediate and recreational teams filling out their 2006 tournament schedule be sure to consider the tournament being played on August 11-13 in beautiful Niagara Falls Canada. We are looking to accept 18 teams. We do not allow any senior pitching. Visiting Niagara Falls in the middle of summer is a great draw for many teams, and the organizing committee will work with out of town teams as best we can, to schedule games for your team and to still allow time for sightseeing, taking in the brand new Casino and enjoying the city. We guarantee 3 games and advance 16 teams to Sunday, thereby making your chances of playing a fourth and fifth game pretty good. We will send out tournament packages with preferential restaurants and hotel rates as well as maps, rules etc. The cost is $350 Cnd. and we pay out approximately $2,600 plus prizes . I think all teams who come to our tournament will attest to the great atmosphere, packed stands, cold beer and great friends that make this a tournament a must for their schedules every year. For more information or to reserve a spot please email me [EMAIL PROTECTED] or call 905-354-2206 and ask for Al. Thanks for considering us. Niagara Falls Men's League Tournament
Subject: Niagara Falls Men's League Tournament Date: Mon, 3 Apr 2006 12:19:29 -0400 From: "Greatrix, Rob" To: Niagara Falls Canada Hi Al For all intermediate/ISC II teams filling out their 2006 tournament schedule be sure to consider the annual Niagara Falls Men's League tournament August 11-13, 2006 in beautiful Niagara Falls Canada. We are adopting a new format this year to address some areas of concern. We have always had a sizeable gap in the level of competition between all the teams that enter and we are hoping the new format addresses this. The tournament will essentially be divided into two tiers. The top tier will be occupied by the more experienced competitive ISC 11 teams while the second tier will consist of the more recreational fastball teams. In a perfect world we would see an 8 team top tier and a 10 team second tier. Obviously a greater percentage of the prizes and money will be directed to the top division. The plan is to continue to advance 16 teams to Sunday into an A and B division in each tier. Essentially this would guarantee a 4rth game for most teams. There would be very little different form the previous years A, B, C and D Sunday divisions format except that the tiers would not cross over and therefore all of your preliminary games would be against similar competition. We are probably the first tournament to recognize the different level of competitiveness in ISC 11 play and we are trying to accommodate all teams that wish to play in this annual tournament, that is why we are adopting this format. We are now inviting ALL ISC 11 teams to the tournament and spots will be saved on a first come basis. I can't see a problem if a team elects to play in the top tier but we will be monitoring the bottom tier to ensure it consists of traditional club or rec teams. Thanks to the Shooters squad from Etobicoke who stiffed us last year we are going to have ask teams to pay up front this year. Its unfortunate that one bad apple tarnishes everyone but the executive had no other choice. The total prize money will continue to be approximately $2,600 assuming we fill the field again. The entrance fee will be $350 and there will be prizes awarded as well. Of course we will have the beer gardens overlooking diamond #1 and concessions, barbeque and a merchandising areas. No pitchers included on ISC and NAFA AAA lists. Visiting Niagara Falls in the middle of summer is a great draw for many teams and as always we will try to accommodate teams as much as we can from a scheduling standpoint. We will send out tournament packages with preferential hotel and restaurant rates. All teams who come to Niagara Falls year after year can attest to the great atmosphere, packed stands, cold beer and great friends that make this a must tournament for all ISC 11/intermediate teams. To reserve a spot please email Rob Greatrix ([EMAIL PROTECTED]) or Janet Greatrix ([EMAIL PROTECTED]) or call 905-354-6654 and ask for Janet or Al. Thanks to all who consider us.
