Schutt went down to the Melbourne Comets last Tuesday night in a game that produced some great fastball. As it has been all this year Schutt and Comets have gone through some great fastpitch battles, with Schutt leading all game 1 - 0 on some tight pitching from Jim Grego of Schutt and Mark Rigg from Comets neither teams hitters where seeing much success at the plate when in the top of the 7th on a base hit and 2 Schutt fielding errors Comets made their move scoreing 2 runs with 2 out. In the bottom of the 7th after a lead off base hit from Jim Grego the schutt hitters could not create the oppurtunity to level the score going down in a heart breaker 2 - 1. With the last of the round games being played tonight both Schutt Hitmen and Melbourne Comets find themselves in must win situations to stay in the play offs race which begin Wednesday night. The newly crowned state league champs were to strong for Geelong running away with the game 8 runs to 1. On a very cold and windy night in Geelong Jim Grego threw the win picking up 14 strike outs and going 2 from 4 at the plate with 2 RBIs, behind the dish youngster Danny Ingram called a great game and picked up 2 hits along the way, also in the RBIs was Jamie Hurinui with 2 Gary Hurinui 2 and Ashton Edwards with 2. Shcutt made a slow start after returning home to Altona ballpark last week with the bats not waking up until the 6th Innings. In the 1st Inning after a Ashton Edwards Double and then Scoring on a Jim Grego single to left the Hitmen opened the scoring against the young Geelong Team. After a Strong start on Defence The Hitmen went to work on Offence taking a 6 - 0 lead over the next 6 innings with hits from Danny Ingram, Callum Holmes, Ashton Edwards, Jim Grego, Brandon Chase and Alex Bolitho. Geelong put together a string of base hits to score 1 run in the bottom of the 6th but could not go forward with any more. In the end Schutt Hitmen were to strong for the young Geelong Giants. Received: 10/17/07 6:25:05 PM From: Jim Grego Subject: Schutt Hitmen Impact Printing Cup On Tuesday 17/10/07 The Schutt Hitmen competed in Round 2 of the Impact Printing Cup taking on Metrans from Werribee. The Hitmen came away with a 2-0 victory over a very strong Metrans Batting line up which battery Jim Grego and Mike Hurinui combined to limit to just 1 hit in 7 inns. Brothers Jamie and Gary Hurinui crossed the plate for both of schutt's runs. Ashton Edwards and Brandon Chase making some fantastic plays in the field as well as putting in some solid at bats.
