I have a filesystem that's 26 gb but my tapes are dat dds3 12-24gb tapes, so the filesystem wont fit even with good compression, any ideas on how to fix/make a quick hack for this ? Use tar and back-up sub-directories... Olivier

How would taper compare the tape contents to the files on the disk while backing up? It depends on which files on the disk you mean. If you mean the holding disk, that's trivial since taper is reading it to write to the tape. If you mean the files back on the client, that's hopeless. The

The user name is now part of the amandapass file. See the docs/SAMBA file. It's been updated to show the new syntax. As a security rule of thumb, I'd suggest one to create a specific user for back-up purpose. And avoid using the administrator account. Olivier
