Amanda version - various Sorry, searched the amanda_users searchable archived but didn't see anything on this. We see messages like amrestore: gzip, restore ok, trailing garbage ingored and have always assumed it resulted from DD writing trailing garbage at the end of the last (fixed length)

I just came across this message with a Eureaka moment I thought Config (as discussed in chg-scsi and chg-multi) was only referenced there, but apparently I discovered that putting a tapedev 1 in my amanda.conf actually pulls it from the 2nd tape drive (andthe FIRST configuration MUST (I think)
