My backup failed
last night because I left the night befores tapes in there labelled Jul01. and
Jul0.2
I assumed that the
tapes would be overwritten. If there a parameter in the amanda.conf file that I
can set in order for it to do this?
Thanks again

Sorry
I forgot to mention - the previous nights backup failed, so I was hoping
that if I set the backup to the same config as the night before so that
I could use the same tape labels, those tapes would be just overwritten
when I came in this morning
No.
I take it there's no way around

I have used tar to do my backups, FYI. The issue that I am encountering is that when I try to recover files I get the following response
amrecover list
TAPE DailySet106 LEVEL 3 DATE 2004-08-02
/qa/.bashrc
/qa/.bash_history
amrecover settape localhost:file:/backup/amandadumps/tape06

I am still trying to get amrecover to work, but now I have a different issue which is that amrecover is hanging. I am recovering files on the client which is the same machine as the server and I am using a disk-tar backup. Here is what I typed in...
amrecover add .bash_profile

This was just meant as a ground for discussion (for
amanda-core-members), but it seems to hit the needs of several more
