Hi everybody, Hoping somebody can clarify something about amanda for me. I have my backups set to run on a 3 day dump cycle with 6 tapes, running every evening except sunday night. It seems to work fine, we change the tape each morning so over the course of a week (if I understand how

I am running amrecover daily. The daily amanda.conf has the following: tapedev /dev/rmt/1bn # the no-rewind tape device to be used changerdev /dev/changer/1 When I go to extract a file I get the following tape device. Should not amrecover look at the daily amanda.conf file to get the tape

tapelist no-reuse set automatically

I run an archive once a month and would like to mark tapes that have been used by the archive as no-reuse. I have to do this manually now. Is there a way that this can be done automatically with an amanda configuration parameter? I have looked for something like this and have not seen anything

Thank you for the pointer, I think that may be what I needed... will see how the backups go the rest of this week. -Jeff Read up on the 'reserve' parameter in amanda.conf, its default value, and its effects on degraded mode dumps.

Thanks for the responses... I did a search on the reserve keyword and read up on it, and I'm pretty sure this is what I was missing. I didn't have any reserve set, so it was defaulting to 100%. I changed that to 30%. My holding disk is ~65GB and i'm using 20/40GB travan tapes so I think

Josef, I wish I could answer you definitively, but I can't just yet, because, for reasons that are apparently unrelated to ssh, I haven't yet actually received any dumps through the pipe. HOWEVER, I'm pretty convinced that they are supposed to arrive at the taper machine via the ssh connection.
