amanda client package without amdump

Hi, I installed amanda-backup-client_2.6.1p1-1_amd64.deb on a Ubuntu Server 8.04. Now I see that there is no amdump in it. Shouldn't that be part of the client? Or do I need to install the server-package? regards, Andreas

Hi, I wrongly had the idea that the client initiates the backup. (Upto now my only client has been the server itself) Now I see that it's the server starting the backup so having amdump in the Serverpackage makes sense. Now I only have to figure out some communication issues between server

planner - old information

I have an older version of amanda 2.4.4 on a Solaris 10/sparc server. It is both client and server. Oddly, planner seems to be trying to backup clep:/xerox DLE, which was removed from the disklist 2 years ago... I guess its been running so smoothly and successfully that we never looked closely

Second look at the problem, turns out /xerox is a link to /export/zones/xerox, there /export/zones is another file system. Would amanda/planner attempt to treat the link to another file system as another DLE and then warn us that it wasn't in the disklist ? On Wed, Jul 15, 2009 at 10:47:18AM
