Granted - I'm running versions of Amanda that are a little older, vary from 2.6.x through 3.0.x, the enhancement I'm asking about may already exist.
I'm thinking of a 'dirty bit' ie, has the tape actually been used. We have situations where a DLE dumps to holding area, or even to tape, where the DLE is too small to fit on the tape (we do not have tape spanning enabled). We also have situations where a DLE does not dump (often because ZFS has allowed a user to put hundreds of thousands of files per directory, so amanda may time out. Both senarios may leave me with a tape that is mounted, perhaps even written to, but does not contain a recoverable DLE. Is it possible for amanda to note this and NO mark the tape as used, but leave it available for the subsequent amdump run? thanks, Brian --- Brian R Cuttler brian.cutt...@wadsworth.org Computer Systems Support (v) 518 486-1697 Wadsworth Center (f) 518 473-6384 NYS Department of Health Help Desk 518 473-0773 IMPORTANT NOTICE: This e-mail and any attachments may contain confidential or sensitive information which is, or may be, legally privileged or otherwise protected by law from further disclosure.
